The Early Childhood Education Program of Anchor Lutheran is licensed by the Municpality of Anchorage. Children ages 3-5 who are potty trained with self-restrooming skills are eligilble for the program.
At the Lutheran Center, the building opens at 7:00 am with the academic portion of the program beginning at 9:00. The curriculum is age appropriate and theme based. The children go out to our new playground for recess before lunch or to our large multi-purpose room when the weather is too cold or wet. Lunch is provided by the parent and the teacher will assist with "heat-ups" when needed. Milk is available for purchase in half-pint containers and chocolate milk is available on Fridays for a special treat. In the afternoon, an hour and a half is set aside for napping and even "non-nappers" must rest for 45 minutes which is a licensing rule. A nutritious snack is prepared on site for the children in the morning and afternoon. The pre-schoolers go out again in the afternoon for outdoor activities and care is provided for them as late as 6:00 pm.
Additionally, our young students participate in Chapel on Wednesday mornings with our K-8th graders. The parents are always invited to join us for Chapel at 9:10 in the multi-purpose room. The Early Childhood students are an integral part of our school and a special part of the Anchor Lutheran family.
Please contact your child's teacher or our program director for more detailed information about a particular class or if you are looking for a nurturing environment for your pre-schooler, please call or stop by the office. We would love to show you around our building and share information with you!
